OSHA fall protection training: Prevention of falls at the construction sites

The primary reason of death or injury in the construction industry is fall. The shocking fact is that these falls can be prevented. The task of construction workers is mostly associated with the ladders, roofs and scaffolds. There are places where most of the falls happens. According to OSHA employers are required to –

Plan – the employers are responsible for the workers safety when setting up a task that will required them to work at heights. Provide – It is the duty of employers to provide workers all the required fall protection and other associated equipment like – safety gear, ladders and scaffolds if they are working at 6 feet above the ground level and above. If the task of workers includes working at roof then employers must provide them a harness for every worker which will tie them form the anchor keeps them from falling. And also it is important that the equipment provided fits workers perfectly and are frequently examined.

Train – employers must make every workers at the construction site participate in the OSHA fall protection training. The training will help the workers in learning – general safety principles relayed to working at heights; enhance the knowledge of safely operating, identifying the possible hazards and keeping yourself and other safe while working at height.
